Atomix Productions Inc. created Virtual DJ as a powerful tool for mobile and club DJs to mix incredible songs and videos. Automixing, which works like a jukebox function to mix tracks, is one of the mixing options and features that users can choose from in Virtual DJ. Here is a guideline on how to use Virtual DJ’s automixing function.

Overview

Using Automix allows you to use the automatic mixing feature or make or edit playlists. Drag and drop files or load a previously saved playlist from the file list. When Automix is turned on, the first track from the list will be loaded as the deck’s companion on the master output. Virtual DJ uses a single deck for automixing to free up another deck or decks for live mixing.

According to the chosen Automix type, the “Will Play At” section will show each track’s play time (files already played will be shown in gray). The list’s currently playing file will have a blue backdrop, and the following track will be below it.

The Significance of Virtual DJ’s Automix Feature

The automatic mixing of tracks is a nice feature of Virtual DJ. First, it lets you alter the order in which the songs play. That is crucial, meaning there aren’t huge pauses in the music. Loading tracks to Virtual DJ and selecting a mixing mode is all you need to do; the application handles the rest.

It is helpful when you need a quick break to visit the restroom or if members of the crowd have requested a certain song. You may focus on mixing songs to meet their requirements instead of worrying about what tune to play next.

Virtual DJ’s Automix Features

Virtual DJ’s automix features include the following.

Waveform Automix

The Automix operation will happen on the deck with the highest priority. The currently playing track will appear at the top of the progress bar and show the next track to be loaded from the automix list at the bottom. The white outlined rectangles denote the beginning and ending points of the automatic mixing process. It will change whenever you choose a new automix type in the automix options.

You can access the POI Editor’s Automix Mix by right-clicking the waveform’s left side. When you right-click the right side, the POI Editor will open at the Automix Mix Out point of the current track or the next track if you’re looking ahead.

Start/Stop Automix

This is used to toggle the Automix function on and off.

Automix Options

The options menu will open, allowing you to change the automix type, the length, and other settings, including the following:

  • Smart: Allows Virtual DJ to decide from the basis of an ideal mix point.
  • Fade (removes the intro and outro): It creates a crossfade at the beginning or end of the song, dependent on the Automix Length you’ve set.
  • Fade (stops silence): Removes any dead air as you fade.
  • Fade (doesn’t change anything): The music fades off without changing or ending.
  • None: Never alter anything in transition.

While Automix is set to use a single deck by default, for example, the left deck, switching it to dual-deck mode takes pressing a button. When mixing, toggle automixDualDeck to Yes in the settings menu to switch between the right and left deck.

Step-by-Step Guide to Using the Automixing Virtual DJ Program

  • Launch the application on your ideal device (regardless of your version).
  • Load your entire playlists. If you have songs in your personalized playlists, you can access them from your screen’s left side, below the alternate decks. The “Sidelist” section appears to the right of the main window.
  • More song selections and playlist loads are available at this panel’s base. Choose “Automix” to activate the sub-menu. Move the music you want to use in the automix from your library to the automix window.
  • Select your automix option. After you’ve added all the flawless playlists to the automix panel, you can adjust the automix parameters by selecting the circle symbol in the top right corner of the automix pane (besides the shuffle icon). After that command, it will open a drop-down menu. Toggle the various automix options and pick a favorable function that fits your needs. If you’re uncertain about a preferable option, opting for the smart function is a fantastic alternative. The software will then decide the best method for the mixing of songs.
  • Customize things to your preference. You can return to the automix controls by clicking the circular icon once again if you want more advanced features. When you click the Automix Editor button, another window will appear with the waveforms of the currently playing and next song. You can customize the fades as you may prefer using the sliders provided. A helpful hint is that you can utilize the automixing controls to cut tracks that you have already played or are duplicate tracks.
  • Save the playlist.

Once you’ve created a playlist with music you like and performed any necessary mixing, you may save it for later use. To change your automix settings:

  1. Click the circular icon.
  2. Scroll down to the ‘Save’ button and confirm your selection.
  3. Create a playlist by giving it a title and then saving it by clicking the Save button.

Adding many upcoming songs to the automix panel will cause it to incorporate tracks from each playlist. To create a new playlist window out of your many selections without including any duplicates, select the option for removing duplicates.

Conclusion

It is evident how automixing can be handy when mixing songs from your song collection. When trying to impress a group of music lovers, it is hard to choose an awesome song from many songs. It is safe to play popular or mainstream music in such a music spot.

With a good playlist management menu, you can use the quick automix feature to keep the party alive while you take a breather. Thanks to program DJing, you can also do more while in the booth, giving you a chance to perform well.
